Job Interviews & Job Rejections
During the month of February, I had job leads for two companies. For one, I missed the scheduled interview time because I was told the wrong time for it sadly. For the other company, I had four interviews and ultimately did not get it. I always prepare for each round of interviews by making a study guide of interview questions. It may sound like way too much work. However, it really helps me to type out my answers and think of situations for specific behavioral questions. For this company, the first interview was a 15-min HR screening phone call, second was the first 30-min. Zoom interview, third one was a behavioral interview, and the fourth one was a personality interview.
I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to have four interviews. I feel like I learned a lot more about the process of interviews and what interview questions to expect. It is always hard getting rejected and knowing there was someone better qualified than you. It’s just the way it goes when applying for jobs. I have a friend currently who is interviewing for graduate school so we have been able to relate lately with rejection letters. Opportunities will come and go; however, it just takes one yes.
Rework of a Portfolio Item
I have this one portfolio item that I have not yet put on my new portfolio website. I want to revise it before posting it here. It needs a front and back cover. The project is called the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is a school project that demonstrates my typography and publication design skills. Right now, I am thinking of using paint to create a human handprint for the cover. I will need to find paint, make the print on paper, then scan it onto my computer. Look for it on my portfolio website sometime!
