April Musings 2021
April 30, 2021
In these kinds of blog posts, I talk about what I’ve been up to for the month. The topics may include design work, hobbies, and more. At the end, I include the top five songs I listened to for any fellow music lovers out there.
Cat Sitting for My Cousin
For my oldest cousin, his job is being a pilot for an airline. Because of the pandemic, he’s been on and off. However, the traveling industry is picking up again. His girlfriend is a flight attendant so they often have irregular schedules. They recently got a kitten, Henry a couple months ago to give their other older cat Chloe, a companion. However, Henry has a lot of energy and has ended up being a little too much for Chloe. Having dogs in my family, I understand the worry of leaving your pets home alone. With cats, it is definitely easier as you can just leave out extra cat food and water for a couple of days. However, with Henry having lots of energy, they wanted me to check in and hang out with them every day for an hour. I love cats and wish my family could have them, but both my parents are allergic to them. So it was a treat to go over and hang out with Chloe and Henry.
First Swim Since Last Summer
My family has two dogs, Riley and Abby. Riley is a 12-year-old vizsla mix with some pitbull and Abby is a lab mix. Riley wandered into our yard when he was about 4 months old. We added Abby to the Olsen family from a shelter in 2018. She apparently came from the south. She was very shy and scared of everything. It was obvious she had gone through some trauma. Now, she has opened up a lot and her personality has shined through. She is such a fun and playful dog. She’s got us all wrapped around her little paws, especially my dad. Because Abby is a lab, she absolutely loves water. We had a week of warm weather in early April and I walked her over to the creek to swim for the first time since last summer.
Visits from Family Members
My aunt, who lives in Florida, came to visit us for about 5 days for her birthday. It was really fun to see her and have her in town. For the week she was here, it was cold so we stayed in most of the time and watched The Great British Baking Show together. Soon after, my grandma on my dad’s side came to visit us. She was fully vaccinated when she came. She did a little road trip to visit my two aunts in Wisconsin then us in Minneapolis. My grandma did some sewing projects and hung out with us at home. On the last day, my dad and I took her to the Stone Arch Bridge where we walked around and took some pictures.
