Angry Catfish Bicycle Shop + Coffee Bar in Minneapolis offers bike services like repairs, fittings, rentals, and customizations alongside a cozy coffee bar. This project involved learning to modify a Bootstrap theme in Adobe Dreamweaver. My professor tasked us with improving a current company’s website, and I chose Angry Catfish’s 2017 site, which was overly cluttered and visually overwhelming. In two weeks, I simplified the design to improve user experience while balancing other coursework and design projects.
To simplify their cluttered website, I chose a single-page Bootstrap theme and designed mockups in Photoshop for reference while customizing the theme. Without access to their official logo, I selected typefaces (Museo Slab and Adrianna) to match their style and sourced a PNG of the catfish icon. I organized content from their existing site, used icons from the Noun Project, and applied a minimal color scheme for a clean, sophisticated design focused on content.
The final product is a clean, one-page website that represents the company’s brand with minimal design and strategic white space for improved user experience. The project was well-received, with compliments suggesting I pitch my concept to the company which was awe-striking to hear. This project taught me valuable skills in Adobe Dreamweaver and customizing a Bootstrap theme.
