Founded in 1902 in St. Paul, MN, Union Gospel Mission – Twin Cities (UGMTC) has been serving the community since the economic challenges and immigration surge of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, they continue their vital work in Downtown St. Paul. During my time with UGMTC, I was part of a five-person Marketing and Communications team, collaborating closely with the copywriter, who provided content for various graphic design projects.
At UGMTC, I designed a set of four postcards for Barb, a Development Advisor, to educate potential grant-providing organizations about UGMTC’s key services—she was thrilled with the results! Next, I supported their 120th Anniversary event by creating print invitations, buck slips, social media posts, digital flyers, email banners, and a special “Changing Lives for 120 Years” flyer. I also collaborated with another Development Advisor, Emily, on the Heart for Hunger fundraising initiative with Thrivent, updating information and creating promotional posters and social media content. For Breakfast with a Resident, I designed digital flyers, email banners, and social media graphics to promote the monthly event. I also created the 2022 At-A-Glance flyer summarizing key statistics and programs. Lastly, I developed engaging social media posts, designed the Hope Begins with A Meal logo, and applied it to newsletters, appeal letters, proposals, and other marketing materials.
During my time at UGMTC, I discovered that they had never had an official graphic designer before. I was excited to strengthen their branding, elevate past projects to new standards, and develop new projects to support their mission and vision.
